Discussion

Kevin John Purkiss Jan 21, 2010:
Edith, I assume that if this refers to tiling a surface then it is either flat or slightly concave or convex. I doubt that it is the internal bore of a cylinder or the internal surface of a hole, which is what a reamer produces.
Kevin John Purkiss Jan 21, 2010:
Hi jennifer125, this is a block of wood that is used to push or tamp the adhesives onto the base wall, floor, etc. In English simply a wooden block, we do not mention the rubbing or pressing action.

ream(er)

guessing from the context. I give it CL1 so .... neutrals are ok, please not umpteen disagrees
Peer comment(s):

neutral Kevin John Purkiss : Hi Edith, correct translation for a different context; a reamer is used for producing accurately dimensioned bore diameters, not applying tiling adhesive.

yes, I know that but maybe they first use a reamer and then simply use it for adhesive application.

[The dictionary translation obviously omits the '-holz' part of the source term. Moreover, I have no idea whether it fits in your context.]

neutral Edith Kelly : in the sense of "Scheuerleiste" yes, but not in the above context
