Comment: "Thank you to all who participated. This is called a "haircut", which I called an "adjustment for haircut" (it sounded better). A commission was charged instead of a factoring fee, by the way. A haircut is a percentage that is subtracted from the par value of assets being used as collateral. The size of the haircut reflects the perceived risk associated with holding the assets that are being factored. Again, thank you all."

This is the reverse of discounting, where the computation is based on the value of the receivables and a percentage thereof, say 85 percent, is released to the "debtor."

En el caso de adelantos de fondos, el Factor retiene, en concepto de garantía, entre un 15% a un 25% del valor nominal de los documentos (facturas, cheques, pagares, etc.). Este aforo es reintegrado al cedente a medida que el Factor va cobrando los documentos.
Factoring con recurso.
En este caso, a diferencia del anterior, es el cedente quien soporta el riesgo de insolvencia, ya que el Factor solo administra la gestión de cobranzas.
Si el crédito cedido no está instrumentado en documentos negociables, el Factor estima un aforo, como garantía, sobre el monto transferido. Ante el incumplimiento del deudor, el Factor carga al cedente el crédito afectando el aforo. Este aforo se liquida al cedente al final de la operación.
