Der größte Teil der Handleuchten wird mit einem GVG, d.h. Gleichrichter-Vorschaltgerät, betrieben. Die Zuleitung erfolgt hier über ein konventionelles Kabel. Die Transformation des Stromes erfolgt über elektronische Bauteile, die auf einer Platine sitzen. Diese Bauteile bewirken, daß Spannungsspitzen ausgeglichen werden und daß die Röhre gleichmäßiger mit Strom versorgt wird.
