Je traduis un questionnaire médical destiné à des médecins sur le contrôle de la stérilité du matériel, notamment en salle d'opération.

Punctuation There are two other examples of "strange" punctuation in the source text... so this wouldn't be surprising at all. Thanks.

illogical There isn't a lot of logic I can see in having 'brightness' OR 'boost' (in the same way as on OR off) --- but I can see the sense in having a 'brightness boost' switch, which would boost (or not) the brightness. I suspect this is just sloppy punctuation in the source text, so you may need to be wary of being misled by this.

Comme Tony, je ne pense pas... "brightness switch"/"boost switch" n'a pas vraiment de sens alors que 'brightness boost switch' est très logique.
agree Tony M : I think this is the right idea, but not sure about your suggested term; does one really amplify light (other than in a laser!)?

neutral Tony M : The trouble is, that could readily imply a knob that you turn to adjust the brightness; I suspect something more specific is necessary here. / Probably safer ;-)

Hi Tony, then I would suggest using the term ''interrupteur'' which is the direct translation of ''switch'' but also implies a broader spectrum of switches such as a rotary switch etc. What do you think?

neutral Tony M : Too specific: we don't KNOW it is either a knob or a button, the s/t just says 'switch'; and the fact it is a switch suggests it probably isn't for continuous adjustment, but just 'on' and 'boost', for example. / Aha, you have extra context?
