Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Automotive
The term 歩かよけ appeared in a table I am presently translating. The Context is R歩かよけ装置設置(~6未)。I would like to learn the Yomikata as well.

Poka Yoke In the automotive world, "poka yoke" is a very common word used even in English. (Though it tends to be pronounce "pokey yolk") If you are concerned about using it like that, you might call it "defect detection equipment" because that is essentially what it does.

Fool proofing is a commonly used translation of 歩かよけ. The yomikata is ポカヨケ[pokayoke].
The measures or devices used to prevent silly mistake in any process or function are refereed to as [ 歩かよけ/ ポカヨケ: fool proofing]

mistake-proofing

Although "fool-proofing" and "error-proofing" are also correct, "mistake-proofing" is by far the most frequently used term for ポカヨケ.
