français term

primeur absolue

français vers anglais Marketing Cuisine / culinaire Promotional text
This term is from a short marketing text about chocolate.

The promotion is running during the spring, so I'm not sure whether 'primeur absolue' refers to spring, or if there is another meaning that should be taken.

Here's the sentence:

Cerise sur le gâteau, ce somptueux dessert se propose en primeur absolue aux "name of store".

Many thanks.

Thanks in any case for your contribution Philippa, and to everyone else!
Philippa Smith Mar 9, 2016:
@Louise We posted at the same time so I didn't see your comment before I added mine! But we reached the same conclusion...:-)
Philippa Smith Mar 9, 2016:
agree wth Katherine So you could just say "wll be available exclusively from"...
Louise Etheridge (asker) Mar 9, 2016:
Yes, in fact in the end I came up with 'available exclusively', which in a way also implies 'being the first to/sneak peak' etc. as suggested in the other contributions. Thanks for pointing this out Katherine.
Katherine Rutter Mar 9, 2016:
I'm understanding it to mean that initially, the product is only available in that specific shop?
Louise Etheridge (asker) Mar 9, 2016:
Many thanks for your input Bohy!
Anne Bohy Mar 9, 2016:
avoir la primeur de qq chose = être le premier à en béneficier

Get a sneak peak/Be the first

I understand it as "being the first to enjoy" the product
Note from asker:
Yes, I did get that sense also from other research. Many thanks Cécile!
Peer comment(s):

agree Didier Fourcot : Not to be confused with "primeur" for early varieties of fruit or vegetables, or even for stores selling them in France

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Actually all of the answers proposed were great in their own way. However, I'd like to award you the points Cécile as your answer really helped me to come to a conclusion myself."

exclusively available at...

As mentioned in the discussion, it seems that the product will, at first, only be available in that particular shop.

Many thanks Katherine!

Premiering/debuting exclusively [at]...

Conveys both the idea of the debut or sneak peak as well as the exclusivity.
Note from asker:
Many thanks Sarah, that's nicely put.
