J'ai la sensation que le texte source est maladroitement formulé. J'aurais plutôt écrit: "prices needed to come down for some high end homes in order to clear the market".
Voilà comment je traduirais la dernière phrase:
"Toutefois, les prix records observés récemment ont engendré une déconnexion entre les prétentions de certains vendeurs et les valeurs de marché réelles. Il a donc fallu que les prix de certains biens haut de gamme baissent pour que le marché trouve son point d'équilibre."
Voilà comment je traduirais la dernière phrase:
"Toutefois, les prix records observés récemment ont engendré une déconnexion entre les prétentions de certains vendeurs et les valeurs de marché réelles. Il a donc fallu que les prix de certains biens haut de gamme baissent pour que le marché trouve son point d'équilibre."
