« a more "index tracker-like" management style »

: ...davantage axé ... The omission of the hyphen, which would help comprehension here, is an unfortunate modern trend in EN-US.

: where is "more" gone? that was the difficult bit ...in actual fact, the ST says nowhere that they are managing nor investing in trackers funds, but only that they are behaving ==as if== they are simply tracking indexes instead of doing "active management"

English term (edited):
a more index tracker like management style
1st: there is point whatsoever in trying to translate only "more"
"a more index tracker like management style" = a style of management (of funds) that resembles more the way tracker funds are "managed" - i.e. simply follow an index without any intervention/input from the fund managers!
some funds are "actively managed" [and investors get charged on top for that!] i.e. the fund managers are expected to use their expertise to hand-pick investments that will perform above the average / get investors ahead of the pack - more risks but potentially better returns;
what this ST is saying is that these fund managers are not really doing that - they are acting as if they simply following/tracking some indexes, to avoid taking risks in order "to safeguard a pending outperformance fee"
