as they know it through the dictates of their conscience

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience--those too many achieve eternal salvation.

Per Rachel Douglas, the official version:

Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience.

agree Rachel Douglas : But the official Vatican English translation of Lumen gentium uses different word order and voice: "as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience"

Thank you, Rachel. You have truly catholic knowledge. It is probably the same as with the many translations of the Bible.

In point 16, under chapter II of the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen gentium, the official Vatican English translation gives the sentence like this:

"Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience."
