Subrrogada

Spanish to English Other Medical: Health Care
Hello,

The translation concerns a female patient with CKD.

I am assuming that she is going to attend a different clinic to the one she usually does, but "subrogated/subrogation" doesn't seem to be suitable here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Eileen Brophy Nov 13, 2018:
subrogar(Del lat. subrogare.)
v. tr. y prnl. So I understand it as an alternative or a substitute clinic

philgoddard Nov 13, 2018:
The answer is here - it's something like 'servicio subrogado de hemodiálisis Angeles, Polanco'. Polanco is a district.

But I'm still not sure what subrogado means in this context. Can any Mexican residents help?
philgoddard Nov 13, 2018:
Context Angeles Polanco (not Polanca) appears to be a clinic in Mexico City. And subrrogada is a mistake for subrogada. I'm not sure what it means, though.

Subrogate means substitution, but it does not sound right in this context either.

clinic

See the discussion entries.
Chema has provided a very helpful explanation of "subrogado", meaning a clinic to which a hospital farms out its patients. However, I wouldn't attempt a close translation, as it would just make things too complicated. "Clinic" should be enough.

clinic

Like Paul said, "clinic" would be the simplest translation and in this case simple is the best solution in my opinion. I have never heard "subrogate" or "subrogate" in the context of turfing a patient to another clinic (dialysis or otherwise) in English, so you are right to avoid a direct translation.
