To draw attention to what they see as an anti‐Red backlash after a decade of Indian assertiveness, Indian leaders began, five months ago in San Francisco, a 3,000‐mile “Longest Walk” to Washington —symbolic trek commemorating the forced migrations of the 1800's, under the carbines of the United States Cavalry, of entire tribes from their traditional homelands to Federal reservations in the West.
