When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

For the UK, trips to "local authorities"?

It would never occur to me to separate the trip itself from its purpose in this context.

Hilfe bei Behördengängen = help with trips to government offices
Really? I think I preferred your explanation when you posted the question: "help get their papers done" i.e. help with filling in forms
help with trips to government offices = pushing a wheelchair, booking a taxi, researching bus timetables.
Was it perhaps Mr Martin's suggestion that "navigating the system" could only take place online (not true) that persuaded you? Or the late intervention from the discerning Dr Timm?

: Nice idea. Gefällt mir gut in diesem Zusammenhang – zumal Behördengänge immer weniger mit einem Ausflug zum Rathaus verbunden sind, sondern am Computer erledigt werden.

: Partially correct. But you can also navigate the system while sitting at home in front of your laptop. Behörden - gänge means physical trips to those offices./Homeless in NYC: easier to find a place to charge your laptop than a place to sleep.

Diese Treffer hätten bei der Glossarsuche (nach "Behördengang" und "Behördengänge") eigentlich auftauchen müssen. "Hilfe bei" ließe sich als "help in/with", "assistance with" o. ä. übersetzen.

Discussion
3) To be sure, I didn't really like the old suggestions either, visits and whatnot. As I said before, I think your own idea (accompany) was better than the one you chose. Plus, the proposed solution is hardly shorter than what you came up with yourself!
This is a good use of "trips":
"Streamlined processes and online self-service offerings are saving trips to government offices and therefore saving employee time too."
http://www.governing.com/news/state/gt-best-govt-websites-na...
But that's merely about not going there. Another UK link using your very own suggestion:
"We work to build relationships based on trust, engaging with hard to reach individuals and offering them support to access services. As well as helping them access services, we also accompany them to these services, assist with form filling, and help them find temporary or permanent housing."
http://simononthestreets.co.uk/get-involved/campaigns/homele...
Wish you and your husband a good (and not so rainy) weekend.
Best
"Zusätzlich zur Einbindung der Betroffenen bei Beratungsstellen begleiten ehrenamtlich engagierte Paten/innen Menschen mit Wohnungsproblemen. Sie leisten lebenspraktische Hilfestellungen, indem sie zusammen mit den Betroffenen nach Wohnungen suchen, [...], beim Ausfüllen von Anträgen helfen oder bei Behördengängen mit dabei sind."
https://www.germeringerinsel.de/patenschaften.html
You don't go there to get there but because you filled out the form and you need someone else around because there might be some issues you are not aware of. Had to do the same thing when my significant other was still learning basic German. So, this too is demonstrably false.
Johanna's example is unfortunate because it reads "Making additional trips to government agencies to resolve discrepancies..." It states a purpose, exactly as the Duden does.
[...]
Despite this, I will have to downvote for several reasons.
1) "As I said it's about help with going to the 'Behörden' not just help on the computer."
This idea originated with Michael ("...while sitting at home in front of your laptop.").
I said "call" at first and only provided "Online-Behördengänge," since it was still not clear apparently that Germans will use Behördengänge regardless of whether they need to be physically present or not. Aside from your specific context(!), the idea that a Behördengang must involve some kind of walk is demonstrably false.
2) Even in your very specific context, they aren't trying to carry a drunk to the office. One comment (UK) was "...is the journey there, not the visit itself"; another (UK) was "pushing a wheelchair" and another (including my other half, US): "sounds like you're carrying a disabled vet on your shoulders."
[...]
How did you incoirporate "trips to offices" in your sentence?
It's not just Mair; both I and my (American) half agree that this sounds like you're carrying a disabled vet on your shoulders because he can't "make the trip" to the building.
Even in the Duden, it says:
"Gang zu einer Behörde, um dort etwas zu erledigen"
https://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/Behoerdengang
That's why they used it in the link I posted for "Online-..." because the key part is the second half of the sentence, not the first. "Gang," whether or not you actually walk there represents the broader picture of "making claims/filling out applications"; or it's "appointments," as pointed to below.
Best wishes
"We accompany people who are homeless to their health appointments and advocate on their behalf to ensure they understand the information that is being given to them..."
https://www.westminsterhhcp.org/Resources(4)/Directory of Se...
Else, the short solution is this here:
"We support people who face deportation, we advise people about their welfare rights, we help to make benefits
claims,..."
https://www.mannasociety.org.uk/documents/Spring2012.pdf
If you're OK with one of the answers from the old questions, then why not give points for a creative solution this time?
Also, this is close to what yo're asking: "At Groundswell we provide support for people to make and attend health appointments in London and have volunteering opportunities specifically for people who have experience of homelessness."
http://groundswell.org.uk/get-support/homeless-and-need-help...
Best wishes
