Discussion

Michael Beijer Nov 7, 2012:
agree with Phil without more context we are just guessing

ratify? enact? enforce? effect? cause to be effected? put into force/effect? give force? give force and effect of law? etc.
Michael Beijer Nov 7, 2012:
following Barend... 'put something into effect' + 'put something into force'

def.: to make something take effect; to begin using or enforcing a policy or procedure.

e.g.: 'When will the city council put this law into effect? We will put it into force tomorrow.'

(http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/put into force )
Michael Beijer Nov 7, 2012:
~ helaas zit 'vankrachtstellen' nog niet in de woordenboeken
Michael Beijer Nov 7, 2012:
or 'cause to come into force'

as in: '(...) unenforceability as before, GNWT shall have the right to enact and cause to come into force any law or regulation to provide for the same or substantially the (...)' (http://www.dot.gov.nt.ca/_live/documents/content/Schedule 9 ... )
Barend van Zadelhoff Nov 7, 2012:
my guess would be

putting into force / effect
Michael Beijer Nov 7, 2012:
hmm 'effecting' or 'causing to be effected' maybe?

'vankrachtwording' = 'coming into effect'; 'coming into force'; 'perfection of the order'
philgoddard Nov 7, 2012:
Without naming names, what is X? And could you give us some context please? What does it say before and after this?
