Context:
"Vignetting – sometimes referred to asedge or corner fall-off--is at the core an optical phenomena which results in a loss of light or a darkening in the corners of the image."

Je comprends "vignetage" pour "vignetting"...
corner fall-off, j'ai traduit par "assombrissement des coins"...
mais "asedge", je ne trouve aucune référence...
et je ne sais pas trop si "asedge" est un nom, utilisé comme "modifier" (adjectif), et s'il faut comprendre "asedge fall-off", ou bien "asedge" tout court, et ensuite "corner fall-off"...

Why it's not 'encadré' Here is the quote from the Wiki article I think MC is referring to:

"«Vignetage» vient de «vignette», mot désignant un encadré, habituellement décoratif et de couleur noire, destiné à mettre en valeur le contenu textuel ou graphique d'un document. Ces motifs étaient souvent inspirés de frondaisons végétales, et en particulier de pampres ou de ceps de vigne, d'où l'origine du mot «vignette»."

This makes it clear that 'encadré' is simply referring to the graphic feature of a 'vignette', and is not in any way talking about the spurious phenomenon that occurs in optics.

I found this term on wikipedia in reference to 'Vignetting' so I believe it is, Tony.
