The architect in charge of the rebuilding was XXX, who had worked for the first Duke at XXX, and at XXX he added a new west wing, a single-storey vestibule on the XXX façade and two closet towers at either end of the garden façade.

Explanation:
Beim Blick auf den "closet tower" von Raglan Castle (www.castlewales.com/rag_tr3.html) erscheint mir Batterieturm wahrscheinlicher, weil er sehr wehrhaft und im Gegensatz zum Wohnturm nicht im Zentrum der Burganlage liegt.
Wilfried Kochs "Baustilkunde" gibt folgende Definition: "Die Entwicklung der Feuerwaffen zwingt gegen Ende des 15. Jhs. zum Bau niedriger Geschütztürme von großer Mauerstärke (Batterieturm)."

Explanation:
Ursprünglich war das ein Wohnraum mit Heizung, danach aber (laut Duden) ein:
"intimer kleiner Raum, den jmd. als seinen eigenen persönlichen Bereich hat".
Heute vor allem als Frauengemach verstanden.
War jedenfalls das erste Wort, das mir zu "closet tower" einfiel.
