English term

frog

English to Italian Tech/Engineering Manufacturing manufacturing of bricks
Here is a patent concerning a mould container part for the production of green bricks. In particular, here it deals with a plug and screw connection.
Here is the context:
It is noted that in a preferred embodiment the
plug 106 also extends at least through mother plate 100
to the interface between mother plate 100 and releasable
plate 102, or even to the upper surface of releasable plate
102 (position a in figure 5). This has the advantage that,
when the screw connection of plug 106 is used to secure
protrusions (not shown), so-called ***frogs***, to be arranged
in mould container 54, plug 106 ensures the position of
mother plate 100 relative to fixed bottom plate 99 while
screw 108 is temporarily removed.

I can't find a good translation for frogs.. Can somebody be of any help??v

1.
a thing used to hold or fasten something, in particular:
...
a raised or swollen area on a surface.
"a bulge or frog is formed on the front of the blade"

This also explains that the origin of this term was probably "forchetta" in Italian

neutral Mary Carroll Richer LaFlèche : non userei forchetta, qui si parla di mattoni

non credo che si parla di una forchetta vera e propria, è il nome dell'attacco.

Frog in bricks

The term "frog" for the indentation on one bed of the brick is a word that often excites curiosity as to its origin. The most likely explanation is that brickmakers also call the block that is placed in the mould to form the indentation a frog. Modern brickmakers usually use plastic frogs but in the past they were made of wood. When these are wet and have clay on them they resemble the amphibious kind of frog and this is where they got their name. Over time this term also came to refer to the indentation left by them.

I mattoni italiani sono piatti mentre quelli inglesi o americani hanno un incavatura dove va a finire il cemento tra una fila e l'altra

Right, as the mould of a protrusion would then leave an empty space
Note from asker:
thank you, but I think that what I need here is something resembling a protrusion, not an indentation.. I think I will go with 'pendsglio', which I found on the dictionary when I was following the 'forchetta' hint.
