I found this on a US based site CAD number (CAD #): A sequential number used to identify a call for service. Computer aided dispatch (CAD) numbers are reused over time so it is important to understand they are not unique identifers.

Computer Aided Dispatch reference number

When a crime is reported, a CAD number is allocated to it and someone should be sent to investigate it.. Computer Aided Dispatch is a method of filing reports used not only by the police but also by other organizations, such as taxi firms.
