French term

table à sciatique

French to English Medical Medical: Instruments
From a write-up of an operation for 2nd arthrodesis of the hip. The report is very disjointed, pratically in bullet-point format, so difficult to find flow:

AG Décubitus ventral.
Table à sciatique.
Contrôle ampli de brillance.
Reprise de l´abord postérieur
...

If i take sciatique as referring to the hip rather than the nerve then presumabely this is some sort of operating table, or table position, or table accessory to make the approach easier, but I can´t find anything to back up this presumption.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion

Chris Hall Nov 26, 2009:
Sciatica... is all about nerve problems. My mother has sciatic nerve problems in her back, where the contents of the disc come out and rest on the sciatic nerve causing inflammation of the sciatic nerve.
Wendy Cummings (asker) Nov 26, 2009:
CORRECTION: Sorry, not the hip at all, getting confused with another report i was doing today. Surgery was for "degenerescence sus-jacente a une arthrodese L4-L5; extension d'arthrodese L1-L5.
