French term

résinées

French to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci maintenance
From a risk matrix of an offshore platform, discussing a maintenance program:

"Lancer les activités visant la substitution des lignes corrodées et/ou résinées et cravattées [sic] et des appareils obsolètes."

I think résinées and cravattées go together and I am guessing that it means scaled and obstructed, but I am unable to find support for this.

All suggestions are welcome

Resin is used inside oil pipes to repair them, so they must mean replacing pipes that have been repaired in this way.

To: Claude These are pipes carrying oil in an offshore platform.

What sort of "lignes" are these? I'm wondering if it means that the previously supple insulation of an electrical cable has become brittle. "Cravattées" could perhaps mean kinked ...?

neutral Yolanda Broad : Wouldn't a resin-coated line be one that would be okay and not require maintenance? (Sorry. I hoped I haven't offended by changing the rating: I had selected "neutral, but it seems to have slipped back to "agree" by the time I clicked)
