German term (edited): anteilgebunde Versicherung

Fund-linked (life) insurance

A life insurance policy that assists the investor to build capital as the insurance benefit is combined with an investment in a fund. Such policies can be bought in various currencies. Fund-linked life insurance policies allow the policyholder to profit from the performance of the selected investment fund. When the policy matures, the beneficiaries are paid out the current value of the shares in the fund in the currency the policy was written in. In case of death before maturity, the guaranteed death benefit is paid out to the beneficiaries. If the value of the shares in the fund exceeds the guaranteed death benefit, their current value is paid out.
