German to English Bus/Financial Safety Health, safety and environment guideline
"Äußerliche Anhaftungen an den Behältnissen sind fachgerecht (inkl. Desinfektion) zu entfernen"

I would like clarification on what is understood by a German when they see the term 'fachgerecht'.
Does it infer that the material will need to be removed 'by a professional' (i.e. someone specialised in this) or simply 'in a professional manner' (i.e. 'properly')?

So far, I have written:

"Any material adhering to the outside of containers must be removed properly (and disinfected)."

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

Fachgerecht does not mean it has to be made by a professional but in a way any professional would make it, i.e. according to industry standards.

SOPs 'According to/following standard operating procedures' might be a possibility, too, if SOPs are referred to elsewhere in the text.
