Well Diane, it can be anything really. I've never heard of a "φρεάτιο βαρετού τύπου" for cables before. Usually, such φρεάτια are used for drainage purposes. Sorry, I cannot be of further assistance.

I was thinking of translating "Φρεάτιο" as handhole and "Φρεάτιο Βαρετού Τύπου" as manhole (hand hole with chamber large enough for person) - as these are the terms I know from as-builds - but I am not 100% sure - I just don't know if there is maybe a standard/better translation into English.
