Barbara, "architectural envelope" is a loose and figurative enough term it could refer to the interior or exterior surfaces of anything from an show room installation to a skyscraper...all depends on the context...

| Thanks for your time Kate. The elements that follow that sentence are the material used for the floors and the colors used for the baseboards and walls..... it seems like they refer to the actual building "shell"...does that ring a bell? |

: Envelope is more commonly used for the external walls, roof etc. but IMHO is not impossible here for contenitore.
