Hydraulic in English generally used only for engineering where fluids are under pressure in pipes and are used to transmit mechanical energy as in brake systems on cars, while idraulico is used widely in environment situations in italian. In italian the meaning is much closer to the "idro" with the general reference to water. Reading here:
