Is there a more suitable term than nature/natural/conservation park?

Yes, seems to be a natural park in the sense that it is not kept up or maintained, but left alone as a natural area. Again according to Wikipedia (http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorizia):

"Vi sono numerosi parchi e giardini pubblici all'interno della città, oltre quelli che circondano le molte ville ottocentesche. Vi sono poi spazi verdi restati allo stato naturale, quali il Parco del Castello e la Valletta del Corno, che si estende tra il rione di Straccis ed il centro cittadino, lungo il corso del torrente Corno, dove sono presenti anche appezzamenti di terreno a destinazione agricola

Thanks everyone for your comments and help. After a bit more research from the link Raffaella provided and Wolf's comments this appears to be a park (perhaps in the regions of Valletta, per Tom's comment that Valletta is a place), as the file I'm working on is about restoration of the river that runs through Goridizia.

According to Wikipedia, the Corno River is in Lazio (central ITA), whereas the first Google search results for Valletta del Corno link to a park in Gorizia (north-east ITA), so it doesn't appear to be the same place...

Is it not perhaps Vallata del Corno?
