ice-cream
I have to think of a translation for this ice-cream variety. Has anyone eaten it? The problem is that "Pie" or "Tart" is totally unappealing as an ice-cream name and there is no fruit in it. Help!

sugg. - if you have to translate it..., though this is usu. "[fruit] shortcake ice cream" too...

(apple) pie flavour ...
I think there should be a specific flavour to go with that. Where I live it is common to see apple pie ice-cream or blueberry cheesecake ice-cream, but it is never just 'pie' or 'tart' flavour.
Note from asker:
See my problem? There is no fruit. Blee. Still, it's probably better than the Smurf flavour available in my local gelateria. |

: Yes, and perhaps flavour could be omitted and another suggestion (depending on the text you have) could be lemon pie (I guess since this flavour is more and more present in many 'aromathic' food and body products

: Yes, it won't be long before we're all wanting it from our local ice-cream parlour. The name is appealing in itself!

Biscuit flavour
I've tried such a flavor before and it tastes like the "generic pastry "used in a pie or cake, no specific fruit or filling is attached to it.
Me no mothertongue here, but if I saw a Biscuit flavor in an ice-cream parlor, I'd expect it to taste like a "gelato alla crostata" ;-)

shortbread
Maybe you could qualify it with an adjective like sugar or scrumptious or delicious or something!

: probably the best option seeing as it doesn't have any fruit in it although of course crostata is usually made with fruit or jam

grandma's fruit tart
seeing as "crostata" is typically the nonna's domain... personally I don't think an ice-cream called "grandma's fruit tart/pie" would put me off trying it, I think it sounds nice!! but then my granny's crostata is wicked ;)
