Italian term

ad esso deputati

Italian to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Societa’ ABC possiede per il teatro XYZ e per altri luoghi ad esso deputati tutti i permessi e nulla-osta di agibilità…….

I have been scratching my head for ages trying to decide if ‘used/utilised by it’ is appropriate. I have looked at lots of examples of the term on the net via ghits but just can’t pin down exactly what we are saying here, 'here' being a contract for the organization of an event.

for which it is responsible

You might know a legal term with precisely the same meaning. This was my instinctive choice, which I checked against two Italian dictionaries. It is synonymous with "di cui è stata incaricata" and with "per cui ha la delega".
I did think of "which have been assigned to it", but it isn't quite the same thing in a court of law.

"they'll find that in different contexts it doesn't necessarily have this meaning"
Everything here, relates to this specific legal and permits context. In other contexta many of the other answers would be more appropriate. One of the most common meanings/translations is elected: "deputato al parlamento".

Which these days seems to be synonymous with irresponsible.
Peer comment(s):

neutral ARS54 : ...in questo caso, "deputati" in italiano significa "destinati", "designati": altre aree/luoghi/zone, cioè, che servono per/sono correlati con le attività del teatro. R.: ...ma non è quello che c'è scritto, *i luoghi* sono "deputati", non il teatro..., :)

Sì ma ha una responsabilità. Non sono destinati alla società ABC come utente (end user), ma come operatore (manager).

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "this is the one that fits best in the context, esp given that we are dealing with permits; but if anyone having the time and inclination googles the phrase, they'll find that in different contexts it doesn't necessarily have this meaning."

depending on it/belonging to it

it refers to "teatri", so "ad esso appartenenti", "da esso dipendenti". That's the meaning
