Discussion

Hilde Granlund Nov 24, 2008:
Not right off. I'll try to find out, but maybe one of the native English speakers can crack this one now that the meaning is explained?
Salvador Scofano and Gry Midttun (asker) Nov 24, 2008:
person who gives additional information, which is compared with the information from the patient himself Hi Hilde. Exactly! Do you have an idea how this is called in english?
Hilde Granlund Nov 24, 2008:
Law is not my area, but in medical context this word is taken to mean a person who gives additional information, which is compared with the information from the patient himself. Not necessarily representing the patient or accused or anyone else.

supplemental information

is a way around it, I suppose. I'll try to find a more exact term.To make it clear, you would also need to specify that it is a question of information for others/a third party

appearer

This might be what you are looking for. It seems (appears!) to be used in translations from Dutch and Danish, but it is a new word for me in this context.
Example sentence:

"hereby acting as appearer, which means a written representative with full power of substitution..."

appearant [a'piarant], appearer [a'piara] jur Komparent, m0dende c.
