Portuguese term

carro parado

Portuguese to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Service workshop
Authorised dealers of a large auto manufacturer in Brazil have a special kind of order for parts from the factory, called "pedido para carro parado". That is, the car is in the workshop in bits, waiting for these parts - they are urgent!

I am having trouble finding a suitable term - "stopped car" doesn't seem quite right!

Thanks in advance...

car awaiting repair

A suggestion for you, Martin.

"Parado" in this particular block of text means that the car is 'out of service' or perhaps has 'broken down'.

I did originally think that 'broken down car' was the best answer, but that's not necessarily true for the car in this particular case. The care could well have been taken for repair and then 'put out of action' in order to undergo repairs.

Best of luck.

Hopefully, Martin, you're on the right track and you can use my answer as a springboard to arrive at an answer that you feel more comfortable with. Not sure about a consecrated term for the word "parado" here, but we'll see. Good luck.
Note from asker:
Thanks for the suggestion, Richard. I had thought of "car under repair", which is much the same thing. I'm wondering if there is some "termo consagrado" in English for this. Let's see what turns up!
