Spanish term

falso cliente

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Retail Central America
This term is being used to describe a person who goes to a store without any money and he doesn't plan to buy anything. In this case, the customer consumes products inside the store and then tries to leave. In reports, the management is describing him as a 'falso cliente.'

'Fake customer' and 'false customer' do not seem correct to me - fake seems to imply he is not a real person, false seems to imply he has given inaccurate statements, which isn't the case. Is there a term for this person in English?

Other option is 'pseudo customer' - not sure about this either.

Thanks!

That's it Meaning does not rely on context - it used repeatedly throughout the document and stands alone as a term.
philgoddard Nov 26, 2014:
Could we have the context, please? I think the translation depends on the sentence in which this phrase appears.
neilmac Nov 26, 2014:
Yep, got it. The guy was just a shoplifter. See links below.

neutral Jaime Hyland : Sorry! Didn't read the question properly. I'm still not sure about "client" though ... it's a shop, so customer sounds more appropriate!

shoplifter / scammer

I misunderstood the query. This is just some drunk trying to scam the store. A scammer customer or shoplifter.
