Bio
I'm a native English speaker from the US and have been translating, editing, and copywriting professionally for over six years. The spectrum of the content I deal with varies from day to day, ranging from wine descriptions and airline website content; from employee magazines in big automotive companies to texts for art publications. Basically, I am ready to translate or edit just about anything. I'm also sensitive to differences between British and American English.
My diverse workload has taught me to become an industrious researcher. And whenever I am still not certain after researching, I ask questions: to my editor, in forums, or to the client. Having edited other translators’ work at a translation office and participated actively in adult-ed translation classes have made me acutely aware of typical translation errors, which has in turn taught me a number of techniques to avoid them.
Furthermore, I have a strong background in writing and editing. I earned an MA in Comparative Literature at the FU Berlin (2010) and a BA in English and German at Skidmore College in New York (2006). Parallel to my bachelor's studies, I was the editor-in-chief of the college newspaper, editor of the annual creative writing publication for students, and attended creative writing workshops. Between my degrees, I did an editorial internship at the Berlin-based Exberliner, which taught me to write snappy prose for an international audience.
