I worked in Brazil for ten years, and in Angola for five. In both countries I was involved with interpreting and translating Portuguese to English on a regular basis. In New York I translated a book, Jesus Christ Liberator for Orbis Books, and did some freelance translation and interpreting. During the late seventies I interpreted for Brazilian intellectuals and politicians visiting New York. In Angola I made TV programs on human rights, wrote plays for TV and radio, was interviewed many times on radio. I read Brazilian newspapers on a regular basis. I am a write, having published academic articles and edited a book on social theory. I also wrote short stories for children, and plays. I have a doctorate in political sociology.
