ICICI Bank launches ‘Tap n Pay’ in arrangement with Tech Mahindra
• Enables users to pay using NFC enabled tag and mobile phones at merchant outlets
• Anyone (account holder or not) can avail this facility.

Mumbai: ICICI Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, in arrangement with Tech Mahindra Limited, announced the launch of a contactless payment service based on the Near Field Communications (NFC) technology. Christened, ‘Tap n Pay’, this innovative payment service enables anyone (account holder of ICICI Bank or not) to make over-the-counter payments with without using cash. It allows users to just tap the NFC enabled tag or mobile phone at the merchant’s point-of-sale device to make payments.
‘Tap n Pay’ is a prepaid account, which can be availed by customers of any bank by simply registering for it and transferring money from any bank account online or through an SMS. ICICI Bank customers can also transfer money to the Tap-n-Pay account through an SMS. To start with, this solution is being offered at large campuses of corporate offices. ICICI Bank and Tech Mahindra have plans to extend this service across the country.

We are delighted to partner with Tech Mahindra to enable a contactless payment service in the country for low value transactions. This initiative will offer a new, differentiated digital solution to replace cash for regular and small value payments made over the counter in large campuses. We believe that this service will offer users an unparalleled experience of making quick and safe payments like buying meal coupons at canteens with just a tap of their mobile phone or the NFC tag. Its usability is wide as it allows customer of any bank to register for ‘Tap-n-Pay’ with no documentation or branch visit. It will additionally ease the day-to-day hassle of cash handling and currency change for merchants too. ”

The launch of ‘Pockets’ comes close on the heels of a slew of technology-led innovative services by ICICI Bank. मुंबई: निजी क्षेत्र में भारत के सबसे बड़े बैंक आईसीआईसीआई बैंक ने टेक महिंद्रा के साथ मिलकर नियर फील्ड कम्युनिकेशंस (एनएफसी) टेक्नालॉजी पर आधारित एक कॉन्टेक्टलेस पेमेंट सर्विस के लॉन्च की घोषणा की। 'टैप एन पे' नामक इस इनोवेटिव पेमेंट सर्विस की मदद से कोई भी (खाता धारक या गैर खाताधारक) बगैर कैश के काउंटर पेमेंट कर सकता है। इसकी सहायता से यूजर्स को पेमेंट करने के लिए एनएफसी युक्त टैग या मोबाइल फोन को मर्चेंट के प्वाइंट-ऑफ-सेल डिवाइज पर केवल टैप करना होगा।
'टैप एन पे' एक प्रीपेड एकाउंट है जिसका लाभ किसी भी बैंक के ग्राहक द्वारा बस इसके लिए पंजीयन कराके लिया जा सकता है और ऑनलाइन या एसएमएस के माध्यम से किसी भी बैंक खाते से पैसे को ट्रांसफर किया जा सकता है। आईसीआईसीआई बैंक के ग्राहक भी एसएमएस के माध्यम से टैप-एन-पे एकाउंट में पैसे ट्रांसफर कर सकते हैं। शुरुआती स्तर पर इस सुविधा की पेशकश कॉर्पोरेट ऑफिसेज के बड़े कैंपस में की जा रही है। आईसीआईसीआई बैंक और टेक महिंद्रा की देश भर में इस सेवा के विस्तार की योजना है।
लॉन्च के अवसर बोलते हुए आईसीआईसीआई बैंक के कार्यकारी निदेशक राजीव सभरवाल ने कहा कि ग्राहकों को विश्व स्तरीय बैंकिंग सुविधाएं प्रदान करने के लिए इनोवेटिव टेक्नालॉजी पेश करने के मामले में आईसीआईसीआई बैंक हमेशा सबसे आगे रहा है। देश में कम वैल्यू के ट्रांजेक्शन में कॉन्टेक्टलेस पेमेंट की शुरुआत के लिए टेक महिंद्रा के साथ हुई इस भागीदारी से हम खुश हैं। यह पहल बड़े कैंपस में काउंटर पर नियमित व कम मूल्य के भुगतान के लिए कैश को बदलते हुए नए डिजिटल सॉल्यूशन की पेशकश करेगा। हमें विश्वास है कि इस सेवा से उपयोगकर्ताओं को कैंटीन में मील कूपन खरीदने जैसे कार्यों में सिर्फ अपने मोबाइल फोन के टैप या एनएफसी टैग से त्वरित व सुरक्षित भुगतान करने के बेजोड़ अनुभव की पेशकश की जा सकेगी। इसका उपयोग काफी व्यापक है क्योंकि इसकी मदद से किसी भी बैंक के ग्राहक बगैर किसी डॉक्यूमेंटेशन या ब्रांच विजिट के 'टैप-एन-पे' के लिए रजिस्टर कर सकते हैं। इसके अलावा व्यापारियों को भी इससे रोजमर्रा की कैश हैंडलिंग व करेंसी चेंज की परेशानियों को कम करने में मदद मिलेगी।
