If required the remainder of the fill material could be excavated and replaced with gravel/sand mixture, which must be compacted to give DPr >= 100 %. Should local silts appear in the base of the foundation, then they should be replaced with gravel/sand mixture."
I enjoyed this translation because I could relate to it directly; in my other life worked on the construction of an airport and designed a bridge to carry jumbo jets.
