Professional association for translators & interpreters in southern CA

Greetings.

Greetings.
For some years, there was such a professional association in this area called the Southern CA Translators and Interpreters Association ("SCATIA").
SCATIA was founded and operated by volunteers and used to hold almost-monthly (usually on Saturdays) all-day meetings and present professional workshops / guest lecturers (some lectures by practicing MDs were especially beneficial and engaging).
Unfortunately, SCATIA imploded and became inactive (5-8 years ago?) when the workload & complex logistics of staging those events ultimately overwhelmed the volunteer leaders and staffers, who were all freelancers.
Good and useful idea and worth developing, although that matter involves great effort, attention and time for such an association to survive and thrive. The only remaining / current association known to me is the Northern CA Translators Association (NCTA), which seems centered on the SF/Bay Area. I think the national ATA also has a regional chapter up there, but ATA has no presence or apparent interests in co-sponsoring or hosting a chapter or other professional entity here in southern California
Hope this helps. Today is Tuesday, August 20, 2014.
