Sitting with an orthopedic pillow to support my back. When I have a lot of work, I get up every hour to stretch my legs...
... usually sitting, sometimes laying on the side but that's rarely.

I’m expecting a lot of fun comments on this one, like those for Dubai chocolate.
I am standing up and then do a couple of ballet pirouettes every now and then just to get things going.

I suppose the purpose is to generate traffic to the site - to create the impression that something is happening (because not much is happening at all)

This question is not as stupid as it may seem. Sitting for long periods is very detrimental to the body, but it's still my main working position. I have a wooden support that I can use to work standing up together with a height adjustable display (used a lot when suffering from very bad back pain).
I have also tried a height-adjustable high stool where you half stand and half sit on, but it would require a fitting desk. What also helps against the negative effects of sitting hours-long is ... The question per se is not stupid and indeed correct posture at work is important.
What IS stupid is the silly way that ProZ site staff insist on posting poll question after poll question, instead of fixing all our other issues. See:

It would be interesting to do my job standing, but it is complicated to work in that position.

How nice to see that of the 10 people still active on these forums more than half have turned into sour grapes that can't help themselves but to continuously spread their utterly boring repetitive negativity. Lighten up, ffs, or get a real hobby.

You're right! Enought of unproductive negativity!
The ongoing slanging match between sour grapes and sweet lemons is getting really boring - and not good for anyone's blood presure ...
What does your Malinois has to say about right posture? Ot the meaning of life, while we are at it?

Of someone who understands what he is about to translate, or has enough common sense and self-respect to decline the subjects that will have to be looked up in a dictionary first to get some vague idea of a future masterpiece. If the right rendition will be chosen, that is .

I see the polls as an unformal feature and they are mostly proposed by users. BTW, mine about having less AI polls was not published...
As for the ProZ site, we are all annoyed about the site's condition, which has surely led to many people just jumping off. I just think there are different levels at ProZ, where forum mods are not involved in fixing bugs etc., so should they stop doing their job until the site is completely fixed? They are very likely highly frustrated like us.

I don't get upset by questions about the lighter side of being a translator. I suppose the answer for some translators here would be "nervous pacing, obviously, what other position is there??".
As for me, I sit in a chair (a dining room chair with a built-in cushion, and with wheels attached to the legs). This gives me a nice, upright sitting position. My back usually don't touch the back of the chair while I'm typing, but I do lean back every now and then. The wheels have a nice side-effect: they make the seat higher, and I have long legs, so this is actually a more comfortable sitting position than standard-height chairs.
When we went camping recently, I took a folding chair that is actually at an appropriate height and that supports an upright sitting position naturally. This was a welcome change from previous holidays where the camping chairs were not really meant for sitting at a folding table for hours at a time. (As luck would have it, I got a large job in on the day after we set up the tent, and spent two days translating while the missus went exploring the countryside.)
