No major change May 2

Demand is as high as it has been for the last 6 years: high.

There is possibly a further increasing shift to MTPE, but I will have to start keeping detailed records of that to be sure of the extent.

I have been noticing a slight decrease in demand regarding translation and an increase regarding editing and MTPE. Furthermore, demand in general appears to be shifting eastwards, but I’m very picky and at the end of my career…

I don't mean to bore colleagues, so let me summarize it: (1) the size of the gross market will increase in 2026 (HT+MTPE+AI), (2) some fields are to grow at high rates (igaming, medical, patents), (3) demand is shifting eastwards (as noted by Teresa, and with all the implications for rates), (4) AI is reshaping (with agentic workflows) large-scale enterprise procurement.
(5) Hyperscale Linguistic Engines providers are capturing a large chunk of demand (the demand that some months or years ago did drive the growth of LSPs).

And yes, it's not a rosy picture for human translators.
