For updates, I update immediately.
For upgrades, I wait until the current version is obsolete, or the upgrade contains a new feature that I'm interested in.
Same as Samuel. In addition, I keep checking several CAT tools for new versions, even ones I don't use, to see if there is something interesting in the release notes that would compel me to try the tool.

The CAT tool I most often use is Phrase (former Memsource) in the cloud and their devs enjoy worsen it from time to time, which leads to detailed complaints from me about those disimprovements, including ideas for enhancements.

in the medium to long run, desktop CATs will disapear and most to all the brands will move to the full online model (SaaS or cloud computing) and that they will turn to the subscription model. They like to monitor your progress and even get the translation in batches, besides, the translation memory is not yours. So, Poll Proponent, please apologize for the digression.

| "Wait and see” approach | Jun 2 |
I usually wait a bit after a CAT tool update is released to see if any bugs or compatibility issues show up before installing it.
I prefer stability over new features. And of course… I also wait until I have some money free!
| Really useful new features? | Jun 3 |
I find that new software releases seldom include features that truly justify a paid upgrade. On the other hand, highly anticipated, common-sense features are often left out for years. So, I decided to stop waiting and started building them myself.
