Are you also sick and tired of this useless function?
What is the purpose of being able to distinguish between a PRO and a Non-PRO question?

If questions I ask warrant non-PRO reclassification, and yet very few of my professional peers are actually able to answer the question ... then what, pray tell, is the point of this function?

It is a confusing and useless waste of our time.

I also vote for removal of PRO / non-PRO. I would also vote for removal of "not for points" questions. They are both useless options.

Count me in too for removal of useless classification Jul 16, 2009

I totally agree with Henry and Michael.

I was going to bring this up in another forum, where there are some KudoZ abusers who abuse the system. For example, a certain question is asked as "Pro", but somehow, a notorious site user (members included) votes for non-Pro, and the KudoZ editor edits as Non-pro. Maybe for that person, the question is in the elementary school level due to the numerous points one has earned, but to others it may not be.

One more thing: when a non-logged in visitor asks a question which is obviously in the Pro category (ex. medical, nuclear) one has to change or vote so that the question can be categorized as Pro. This is also a waste of time. Non-logged in visitors necessarily don't ask questions such as "How do you say "Thank you" in Bulgarian.

I agree to abolishing this Pro/Non-pro system and not for points questions to eliminate Kudoz abusers.

I do have a use for it Jul 16, 2009

I use it to express my disgust when the Kudoz system is being unscrupulously used as an equivalent of a general purpose dictionary. That's about all we have left for the purpose.

+1: get rid of them! Jul 16, 2009

I agree with their removal. They are pretty useless.

They're really not necessary, either of them.

I absolutely support this position and use it for the same purpose.

I believe this is the basic purpose it serves. What else is a change to non-PRO saying other than "any fool should either know this, or be able to find it within 7 nanoseconds of opening a search engine or dictionary"?
Of course, we are not allowed to call people fools and that is probably a good thing on balance, but the non-PRO vote can indicate that the question is foolish, if not the actual Asker (and let's be fair, we can all have a wood-trees-blurring moment once in a while).
