Hi all,
I need the specific term used in the English-language version of AutoCAD for the above term in the hierarchy Datei | Dienstprogramme | Bereinigen ('Datei' is obviously 'File', but I'm not sure about the rest, and it's not easy to find relevant info using google).
No educated guesses please, unless accompanied by useful references.

I have found a web about AutoCad which specifies The File, Data Entry options.
At first, I thought it could be "Delete" but given that you say that this is under the Program's File menu may be it refers to "New" as this option allows you to Clear memory and start new data.
Well, hope this helps.
File Options:
• New Clear memory, start new data.
• Load Load existing core from file.
• Merge Merge core file with existing data.
• Save Save with current name.
• Save As Save with new file name.
Data Entry Options:
• Sum - Sum of coal only or tagged items.
• Avg - Composite/Weighted average.
• Calc - Recalculate the entire spreadsheet.
• Save - Save current data to file.
• List - List available strata codes or seams.
• Tag - Select items for sum/composite.
• Delete - Delete items.
• Insert - Insert blank items.
• Join - Combine like strata.

I would think this is for recovering corrupted files. That is what CATIA uses for 'Datei bereinigen'

Clear is the most generic term. Using 'purge' has brutal connotation; that of removing good things for the "higher good" of the system's health.
