God has ordained the Holy Communionas a key channel of health and wholeness for Hispeople. The early church believed this. That is why “… they continued steadfastly in the apostles’doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42) ***They majored on the majors. ***They made a big deal of those things that God made a big deal of.

"Major on the majors" here means "to emphasize on the major doctrines of the Church that is regarded as the Body of Jesus Christ on earth.
"We say we major on the majors and minor on the minors. There are some things specifically in the Bible that are major: Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross so we may have forgiveness of our sins. But all the other things, like what age to baptize or how often to give communion and who gets communion, we say are the minor things we can all disagree on," says Skinner, skating past issues that once prompted wars.

In fact, the major doctrines and the minor doctrines may differ among churches and with time.

(or) 他們追隨大教義
I believe "追隨" may be more suitable for this context.
