Any ideas on how to translate this sentence? Is the correct translation of the word "remaining"?

Your sentence should be: A considerable quantity/amount* of diamonds should have remained in the company’s possession. </br></br>*Use amount only if the diamonds are uncountable. If they are countable you are better off saying quantity.

Meirs, I don't think just to say "remained" conveys the entire meaning. What about the אמור היה?

Could certainly also be "A considerable quantity of diamonds should have remained in the company." Matter of style.
