a loss of connectivity that the user did not expect

I don't think you can substitute unintended for unexpected. Someone other than the user may have intended to cause the loss. Intention/intended and expected (know that is going to happen) are very different.

agree jccantrell : I agree here. Sometimes, my WiFi speed is low due to, say, distance. If the signal drops out, I cannot really say it was "unexpected" but it certainly was unintended.

Thanks !
neutral Ambrose Li : I’d say a loss of connectivity that the system (or the protocol, or the system or protocol’s desginer(s)) did not expect. The fact that error correction is mentioned later gives the context that it’s not the user who’s expecting the loss of connectivity.

agree LisaV20 : Yes. I had one of these yesterday! My laptop just stopped connecting to the wireless for no reason and with no warning.

Thanks Lisa !
neutral Egil Presttun : A loss of connectivity that the computer system didn't intend and thus didn't expect. For instance, the user unplugged the running PC instead of shutting it down using a menu.

disagree LisaV20 : Sorry, but I think if network administrators are testing something, they may have an unintended loss of connection, but I woudlnt say it is 'unexpected' - they might have known that by testing something, they might accidently cause a loss of connection.

agree Egil Presttun : Unintended (and therefore unexpected) by the computer system.
