engine protector spray

Another term is this one I believe, just so you have a choice. Please see links. This stuff is very popular in perfectionist German car circles.

engine compartment protective coating

See St. Goooogle; for US-EN, also "protectant," which would be shorter

engine bay protectant

There are a few terms that would fit. Engine bay dressing is also good. Engine compartment protectant is correct but rather long and sounds a bit odd. Engine compartment dressing is another choice. They all mean the same (protecting the components under the hood/bonnet). Pick the one you think fits the rest of the text the best.

While 'dressing' refers more to appearance and 'protectant' more to preserving, most automotive products of this type are all in one solutions. "Cleans and protects", "Beautiful shine, long-lasting protection" etc.
Example sentence:

...unbeatable for use as an engine bay dressing and protectant.

engine compartment preservative (OR preserving agent)

Hi again Jon,

This is what all the big manufacturers use (don't use "engine bay" under any circumstances - they all call it the engine compartment)

Incidentally, it has nothing to do wioth protectint the components in the engine compartment but preserving the engine compartment itself
