Italian term

contributo al mantenimento

Italian to English Other Law (general)
It would seem easy ("child support"), but there seem to be two types of contributions/support being addressed in the same lawsuit regarding child custody:

(the first type)(which I think is simple "child support"):
"allo stesso modo non vi sono ragioni per modificare il contributo al mantenimento per il figlio a carico del ricorrente; non potendo certo addossare allo stesso le maggiori spese della resistente a seguito della nascita di un nuovo bambino da altro compagno;

(the second type)(which is more like home expenses, or something):
"deve invece rivocarsi tanto l'assegazione della casa famigliare alla resistente, quanto al contributo al mantenimento per lo stesso; quanto al primo profilo, la prolungata assenza della resistente dalla casa famigliare di oltre un anno deve far ritenere eliso il rapporto con lo stesso alla base dell'istituto atipico dell'assegnazione della casa famigliare..."

at the end of the document, the relating judge enumerates:
"4. conferma il contributo al mantenimento previsto in sede di separazione
5. Revoca il contributo per il mantenimento previsto per la resistente".

So we have the two kinds. I think the first is simple alimony or child support, but how would I phrase the second, so as to differentiate (even if the Italian text does not linguistically distinguish them)?

Thanks,

Peter

child support and home-related expenses

I would say it this way. BTW there is a very recent decision by the Court of Cassation that establishes if an ex-spouse sets up home with a new partner, who is in gainful employment and they are co-habiting inn the ex-home, the obligations on the ex-spouse regarding maintenance, mortgage payments, etc. on the assigned home do not have to be honoured and can be revoked on appeal. In this case, she has had a baby .... Fair is fair. Howver, child support obligations remain for the petitioner's child. Alison
