Italian term

in verosimili esiti, di dubbia pertinenza

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) Chest x-ray
Hi there,

This last sentence doesn't make any sense to me. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. :)

RX TORACE IN PRE-RICOVERO
Rinforzo della trama bronco-vasale senza evidenti addensamenti parenchimali a focolaio in atto.
Immagine calcifica in proiezione mediastinica, di verosimile pertinenza linfonodale.
Ulteriori immagini calcifiche, in verosimili esiti, di dubbia pertinenza polmonare basale posteriore sinistra data la localizzazione al passaggio toraco addominale.

Discussion

Good point. "Dubbia pertinenza polmonare" is obviously "doubtful pulmonary relevance".
Gilberto Lacchia Feb 19, 2018:
I don't think so This expression is often seen on medical reports. The "in + disease" in Italian means that the observed symptom/sign is found "in the context of the disease". A radiologist will always add an adjective that clarifies that his/hers is only an hypothesis (verosimile, possibile, etc.) and not a diagnosis (that pertains to the clinician who requested the exam).
philgoddard Feb 19, 2018:
Could it be inverosimili?

possible sequelae, that maybe pertain the left posterior lung bases

On an chest x Ray you see a 3D body on a 2D image. The radiologist ist not sure about the location of the calcifications.

These calcifications, in his/her opinion, are possible sequelae of some pathological process (most often infections) and they may be located in the left posterior lung bases.
