I know what this is (my first association is with female Flamenco performers), but cannot come up with an English term. "Fringed shawl" appears acceptable, but is there another (better) solution?

: If you are trying to sell it, use fringed; frayed sounds like it was already used.

: It's more than connotations. The denotation of frayed is worn and shabby.
