soggiorno stampa

Italian to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations PR plan for a trade fair (coffee product manufacturer)

I'm wondering whether this is an event ("press briefing") or a location ("media lounge"). Informed comments welcome - TIA :).

Discussion

Oliver Lawrence (asker) Mar 7, 2011:
account is an account manager, I feel pretty confident
R.C. (X) Mar 7, 2011:
I agree 100%, it's quite pompous (personally I do not like very much the overuse of English in an Italian text, it is confusing)
philgoddard Mar 7, 2011:
I don't think this is very well written, and the meaning of "soggiorno stampa" is no clearer than that of "account".

ah I see why you had the doubt: the account shall be selected, not the Media thing

The word "durante" links together the "evento" and the "soggiorno" (attendance, staying). "Durante" here expresses time, soggiorno cannot but express time, too, as it is bound to the "evento" by an E. This is how it sounds in Italian.

As cake topping, the "che" afterwards refers to the "account" mentioned at the beginning. I hope this helps.

Soggiorno does not express PLACE here, so it cannot be translated as press room or any other physical location

my pleasure
Note from asker:
Hi Raffaela, I'm clear on "account", it's what they meant by "soggiorno media" that I wasn't clear on; BTW, I like your suggestion.

press room/box/area

As you mentioned in your post ("media lounge"), it is referring to the area of gathering for the "press" or "media" which can have a different term depending on the location but this fits as there is always such an area at large scale public (and some private) events. In US Eng I believe the phrase Press Room is most often used. It can also be used in US Eng to describe the virtual/online media communications area.
