Italian term

prodotti della terra

Italian to English Other Cooking / Culinary
La cucina pistoiese è semplice e genuina, basata sull'impiego di **prodotti della terra**.

The concept is fine, but is there a neat way of wording this is English?

bounty of the earth/soil

If you want something slightly less literal, this might do. It does very much depend on your context, though.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Or maybe just "nature's bounty".

agricultural products

A commonly used expression.
Peer comment(s):

agree Sonia Hill : I would probably use "agricultural produce" rather than "products"

disagree Nora Mahony : This term covers non-edible items: 'The major agricultural products can be broadly grouped into foods, fibers, fuels, and raw materials.' (Wikipedia)

true, although I think that in the context of cooking, the meaning would be apparent
neutral philgoddard : I think this is too bald and factual - you have to include the poetic connotations of "terra" in there somewhere. But I don't agree with Nora - of course you don't eat fibres, fuels and raw materials!

products of the land

or "fruits of the land" if you want to sound a bit more Biblical

fruits of the earth/ produce of the soil

this figurative expression should fit nicely in what I assume is a discursive/ journalistic/ semi-promotional context (of course it doesn't literally imply fruits and no native English speaker would read it as such :) ).

I am adding a quotation.
"...It's a market reserved to the direct sale of fresh fruit and vegetables and also many other land products - from the producers to the consumers."

Peer comment(s):

neutral Oliver Lawrence : this doesn't sound quite as natural as the others; this quotation from an Italian site seems clearly not written by a native speaker
