I am translating an article about the development of resilience, and it mentions a possible biological explanation I can't find in the literature:

Desde hace tiempo, se conoce la implicación del sistema neurohipófiso-suprarrenal, particularmente a través del cortisol, en el afrontamiento de situaciones adversas.

I'm working with: For some time now, the involvement of the neurohypophyse adrenal system, particularly through cortisol, in coping with adverse situations has been known.

Any suggestions?

Hi Muriel - long time since I lurked in this pair :-) The correct spelling in English would be "neurohypophyseal" with an "e". The Spanish term is virtually non-existent, which doesn't help matters.

Quality of references I couldn't find any references to 'neurohypophysis-adrenal' that weren't translations in square brackets. There were a few that looked more reliable for 'neurohypophysial-adrenal'. The lack of support in the literature suggests that the answer lies elsewhere.

My educated "guess" is that this is what it's referring to. There is obviously something wrong with the source term.

The neurohypophysis is the posterior pituitary gland, but I have rarely come across the term "neurohypophysis" in clinical medicine.
